Envelope Exchange - Karen Ness

I participated in an Decorated Envelope Exchange run by Jean Wilson and Jan Hardt, it is run every month and sign up is the 15th and needs to be posted out by the end of the month.

I received my first from Karen Ness from Illinois USA. She made the envelope from Archer Text Wove paper and made her own envelope from it.

I love homemade envelopes. Thank you Karen, wish I had your email so I could thank you properly.

I sent 5 so hopefully I get 5 back

PCAD - A Postcard A Day 40 - Mystery Meeting card from Cologne

It's not often I get a mystery card that I have no idea who sent it, today is that day. This arrived the other day and I am puzzled as i cannot see a name on there that is familiar to me on cards I am awaiting. I vaguely remember someone saying they were sending me a card from a Postcrossing Meeting but for the life of me I cannot remember who. So if this is your card and you are following my blog please comment so I can give you credit.

This card is of Soviet stamps of the World War II

The back of it was signed by all that attended the meeting in Cologne Germany on the 18th July

WOYWW 321

Making envelopes from calendars again.
Blue ikea rubbish bin is so handy and portable as it folds down flat.
That grey tin to the left holds my calligraphy pens.
The black mesh bag under that is great for holding stuff mainly pens when I go to craft club as I can see through it-got that from Officeworks.
Green ipad always on hand, I need an ipad deck chair like Julia's so it sits up.
Glasses for close up writing.

PCAD - A Postcard A Day 37 - WBMP 314 - Eumeko - Zentangle

This is a UNESCO site in Australia called Fraser Island also called Great Sandy National Park or its Aboriginal name is K'gari, it is the largest sandy island in the world at 122 kms in length. It lies on the east coast of Australia. From our house it would take us 3 hours to drive to the pickup point at Rainbow Beach to catch a ferry there. You can only use a 4X4 to drive there. One day we hope to take a day trip there by charter which is about $150 per person.
I participated in a swap in Postcrossing called Write Back My Postcard where we send our own postcard and the person at the receiving end writes in it and sends it back. The idea is born from the fact that sometimes we like our own postcards and would like to keep one but have it written in. So this card went all the way to Malaysia and Eumeko kindly wrote in it and send it back - well she didn't write in it, she did something more unique and did a gorgeous zentangle below.  THANK YOU EUMEKO I love it!!!

This is the gorgeous envelope they came in, isn't Eumeko clever in her envelope design?

T for Tuesday - Maritime Museum South Bank

Last Friday I had to drop hubby into town so I decided to go for a visit down by the river in town called Southbank. It is a cultural, educational and recreational precinct in the heart of the city in a suburb called South Brisbane. I went looking for postcards. I parked close to the Maritime Museum and I saw this sign outside the building of the Phonetic Alphabet, I love the explanations below if you can see them

This is the walk bridge that goes over the river, another day when I have time I will take a walk over it.
Saw this as well and couldnt make out what it was, but it was a beautiful wooden sculpture.
There are some gorgeous archways along the way, with bougainvillaea vines growing all along.
Found some great free postcards to do a project with, will showcase when it is done.

PCAD - A Postcard A Day 33 - Food & Drink RR - Joelle Nelsy

This postcard came from a Food and Drinks Round Robin on Postcrossing from Joelle Nelsy, the swap was a recipe postcard, I also love these types of postcards as I love cooking. But because the recipe is in French I had to good an English version so I could make it. sounds yummy

I love watching Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations cooking programme, HERE is his recipe
I also love watchingn SBS cooking shows so HERE is their version and little history,

Poulet basquaise (Basque-style chicken) comes from the French part of the Basque country, in South western France. The Basque country covers 20,000 square kilometres, north and south of the Pyrenees. Hence it expands into both France and Spain, and has been at the heart of a conflict for decades, with some of its inhabitants claiming the independence from both countries. Originally, "basquaise" designated a dish made from vegetables and bread, but these days it usually refers to a rich sauce made from capsicum, onions and tomato.

Can't wait to make this, my mouth is watering

WOYWW 320

This is my craft club desk....I was decorating envelopes with Delusions. I made a huge mess, I cleaned up the inksplats on those laminated sheets I make for this messy job. My OCD kicked in after each set of envelopes was sprayed LOL and I used baby wipes and toilet paper to clean up..

Yellow and white tickets are raffle tickets we buy. stash to the front right corner is what I bought. We sat in a group of 8 this time-large group-usually its only 4 of us.

I'll take a photo of our group next time so you can see.

Off to another craft group tonight then an early morning start for work tomorrow 3.30am whew hope I can make it.

T Tuesday - Artic Freeze and sunshine

Elizabeth chewed me out last week as I didnt have a drink in my picture - and no I didnt drink the stamp soaking water LOL.
It has been blowing an artic breeze lately so I sat outside and did my work in the sun, surprisingly it got quite hot so I had to retreat inside. This is just outside the craftroom door. AND there's my cup of half drunk tea Elizabeth. I cant go without my cup of tea.

PCAD - A Postcard A Day 30 - UNESCO Potala Palace Tibet

This card from Postcrossing came from Kay in China of the Potala Palace in Lhasa Tibet which is a UNESCO site, constructed by teh 5th Dalai Lama. It used to be the residence of the Dalai Lama until the 14th Dala Lama fled to Indian during the 1959 uprising.  It is now a museum and World Heritage Site.
Again the stamps are just awesome to say the least. I also love Kay's handwriting, it looks like a font, so precise and perfect. thank you Kay.
