LOC Christmas Ornament

This is not the original idea I had but
it evolved because of a few hiccups
and I had to hide some flaws LOL

Close up of the flowers I tried twisting to give it some
depth but the cardstock is really strong
(and the wind blew just as I took the close up so
the picture looks crooked LOL)
Inside view
All I did was take elements of my Christmas card
and turn it into a 3D ornament
Stamps I used are from Layers of Colours
Cardstock is Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White and Basic Black
from Stampin Up
Tombows Green and Red markers
Liquid Pearls Ruby red
Spellbinders Shapeabilities Fancy Tags Three
Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Sixteen

Layers and Dies

Whenever I can I attend a craft group on Mondays called MSG, for February the challenge was to make a card/item using colours you would never go for in the first instance. So this is what I came up with.
EDIT: We had a showing of cards on 27th February and everyone brought in cards they had made and they were all orange LOL

Cardstock is Daffodil Delight, Black.
Printed paper is from Black Market Paper Society-Letters from Paradise
Stamp is StampIt Australia-Elegant Lady 1456E coloured with H20s

Stockings for Soldiers

3000 Christmas cards made as at 1st August 2012

Many of you know that I make cards and contribute to the military that are deployed overseas. This year I am going onboard and coordinating the card section of
Stockings for Soldiers Project
co-ordinated by Selena Smith and Michelle Potter
on behalf of our Soldiers based mainly in Townsville, Queensland.
Last year they sent out 1550 boxes to our Military.
This year they are sending 3000. In the small way that I can contribute, I will be making Christmas Cards for the deployed.

You are very welcome to contribute as well. You can send your cards to me no later than the 31st August 2012 so they can be forwarded onto Selena and Michelle to start the public signing process.

The cards need to be 10cm x 10cm single sided, i.e no folds  so they can be hung on metal walls/lockers with magnets (do not attach magnets to them-the recipients will put it on themselves). Decorate the front only.

Here is a video via Channel 9 about the boxes that were sent in 2011 which is the first year this has been done.

Feel free to EMAIL me if you have any questions
A huge THANK YOU to contributors to date

Cards to Share

Made these cards last week

I thought I'd share this with all the crafters
10. You're contemplating building an addition onto the house to hold it all
9. Your children sleep in the kitchen because they're scared of the
'supply monster' looking in their dark rooms
8. You open the medicine cabinet to get an aspirin and suddenly you have
a sink full of beads...and an aspirin bottle full of the same.
7. You can't find your curling iron, so you've taken to hot gluing your bangs in place
6. Your latest batch of cupcakes look awesome..but then you realise it's because
you used plastic glitter instead of sprinkles.
5. You hold a destash sale, get rid of all of it, and it now looks like you moved out.
4. You accidentally pack paper mache' fruit for your child's lunch..which
goes well with that needle felted 'sandwich' they got last week.
3. "Romantic Nights" are often ruined by finding pairs of pliers
or skeins of yarn in the bed.
2. Your family has accepted the fact that their inheritance will be paid
in beads, sequins and scrapbook paper.
1. The local craft store refers people to your house when they run out of something

Friday Fences #24

I am moving all my photography posts to this blog HERE
Surfers Paradise up on the Gold Coast, this view from our apartment showing the hotel across the road with a 12 foot fence blocking out the street view for hotel guests. We could see them all in their balcony and frolicking in the pool area as we were on the 5th level.
I love that hotel, looks like a mini palace to me.

What's on your Work Desk Wednesday
Many of you commented and laughed at the fact that I chose to put my craft stuff on my bed and sleep on the lounge (first night-got a crick neck), then moved to the spare room for the rest of the week, yes it took a whole week to clean out the junk and 'redesign', and I'm still not done yet. I was so buggered by the end of it. I have to tell you a story about my priorities, I was in the US with 3 bags full of stuff which was over weight, so I took all my clothes and shoes out of my bags and left it with hubby to bring back in 3 months time when he was returning from an 18 month work stint to Arizona-wide eyed (as men usually are at our craft shennanigans) he asked me what I was going to wear when I got home-to which I replied STAMPS lol, because that's all I had. I wasn't going to wait 3 months for my new stamps to play with,
I already had clothes at home to wear!!
MEN!!! Sorry Neil you are in a different league.
Saw this posted on the WWW, there there, now none of us should feel bad about our mess, I don't
That's my excuse for a messy desk but I'm sticking to it!!!

So this is what was on offer for Craft Friday with Cynthia
Firstly I had a disaster

The TV fell off the chair as I was trying to put a new sheet of paper on the table ready for crafting. Hubby said I purposely dropped it as I had been locked in the house for 4 days cleaning up the messy craft area with no car to go shopping and going stir crazy hahahaha,
that's his story and he's sticking to it.
Only the TV and I know the real story, sadly it is now deceased so my word carries!
But he kindly came with me and we bought this one
Check out that car, HDMI is really cool, now Mr Crafty is jealous that I have High Definition TV and he has Digital TV (big difference in picture quality, for those of you who don't understand tech terms either like me. Mmble grumble from hubby who audibly whispered-she has an awesome tv and doesn't understand what HDMI is???) pppppfffffttttt that's why I married a tech head right ladies?

Voila tidy desk, I know some of you will zoom in on the
food platter I served to Cynthia. I took this from the window side so you can see the untidy corner that is now revamped
with the fold up table and some shelves

Quadratini (bite size wafer cookies), Coconut M&Ms, White Wings white choc and macadamia cookies, Seaweed rice crackers. Sorry Cynthia I completely forgot to bring the cheese platter back out again from the fridge. She scored the chocolates and the two
little boxes of chocolates to take home.

Mersey Valley Original Vintage cheese,
Castello White with green peppers cheese
That dip is to die for, its Red Rock Deli-Thai chilli,
lemongrass, coriander and cashews yumm

Lunch was Spaghetti/Lasagna. Hubby laughed at my name for it, well thats exactly what it was, spaghetti with meat sauce  and cheese put together lasagne style.

Cynthia and I, when I discovered I could use my iphone to take a photo of us and also see us in the screen, it's only taken me a year to figure that out hahahaha. Give me a computer anytime, I can work it out, but mobile phones bamboozle me!!
Hop on over to Jan's place to see what other people are up to in their craft areas.
